Hello folks. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about trends and how to dodge your way through fashions you might end up adding to your wedding day that you could end up regretting or shaking your head at a few years down the road or even months down the road. I've been submerged into the wedding industry for almost ten years now and more than ever I am finding some serious proverbial winds of the wedding tides. At the risk of taking nips at photographers and or vendors in the industry today I think it is so important to search for something that will be timeless. Who looks back at things like the mullet or pinned pants and puffy bridal sleeves and gives an eye roll or a nervous giggle. Well don't be fooled folks. Those in vogue cliches are ever present today. With social media being so in our faces sometimes it can simply hard for us to see and separate what will endure and what is simply trending. We just get so caught up with it that is becomes our normals.
Alright so now we have to ask what are they. I cannot be harsh enough to point out what exactly some of these things are but a simple plug of wedding trends into pintrest can tell you in seconds. You'll find yourself down a rabbit hole I promise so be careful. What I would recommend more than this would be to head back to pinterest and instead of trends search timeless wedding photos. Ah, now here you will find something completely different. This is where you want your mind to go. Having said all of this some things will never be out of fashion. The vintage looks, brick walls, climbing tress surrounded by greens, a lace top wedding gown, the classic pump shoe and so on. I think you might be starting to catch my smoke signals here. I am very fortunate in that after years in the biz I attract a lot of like minded clients. Which in turn makes it pretty easy for me to example a lovely timeless wedding for this blog. Of course it does help that the one I am choosing to showcase are with two of the most lovely humans with the greatest energy including bridal party I've also met but I am showing this wedding to example how simplicity can truly be key and taking time to plan out a few simple details can make an ocean of difference in your wedding photos. The Osler Inn in Dundas Ontario
provided at utterly epic vintage backdrop for many of the portraits, our first look and the getting ready photos. With it's unique Victorian (yet timeless) feel lended itself to the lacey ever so lovely flowing bridal gown that this bride, Katrina had chosen to wear. We went on to The Dundas Golf and curling club
which is another lovely timeless venue I've be lucky enough to photograph a few times in the past couple of years. All in all everything about this day to me shouted timeless lovely beauty and today it is the wedding I am choosing to chat about and example for you to please stay clear of the mullets of tomorrow. Enjoy Folks and happy planning. :)
