Well I can't believe it has been so long since I have put a blog up but I am hell bent at making an effort right now to be a little more diligent about getting some blogs and info and advice out to my clients and soon to be clients and fans. I realize I get so many people asking me questions about what to expect with the entire photo and wedding process and wedding day timelines and busy season and so on that it has dawned on me that I need to start writing about this stuff. so todays topic of the day?? Battling high heat weddings!!
So, although people who know me best know that I simply die with affection and love for fall and winter weddings. Without question they are just my jam likely because I MELT IN THE HEAT. Part gecko I am not! Haha. I feel like I am probably not alone with this. So often I start booking my next year and the year after focusing on Fall and Winter but without question my summers always fill up. So the information I want to get out to you today as best as I can in text is what to expect from the hot summer weddings. Hey we all know that our summers are heating up and I've been hearing environmentalists and weather analysts saying that they are only going to get hotter so if you love the heat summer is the way to go. If not we might want to talk about planning your late fall or winter weddings. Spring weddings........ I have to post another blog entirely for this.
Not only can summer weddings be hot but they can also be sunny. I find a lot of people are not catching onto the fact the old mister bright sun sin't always our best friend for pictures. Obviously there are magical little ways to make the bright sun work but if there is a specific look you are chasing for your wedding photos (Like you see in mine) Sunny days might not be what you are hoping to get. Some of my favourite photos are those days that end giving me a little rain or a gentle snow. But I am side tracking.
You might be thinking at this point that Ally is simply destroying my dream of that magical summer wedding. Well don't worry I am not! No no no! I've come to love the busy busy summer months of weddings. I've come to grips with the fact that I will sweat and over heat for so many of my much loved clients. I've also learned to truly love knowing that some weddings do not require Sorell boots and winter tires and 4 x 4. There is a mystical joy each season brings us. There are little delights and details that a summer wedding still brings that no winter or fall wedding ever possibly could. I'm going to share with you today a simply stunning summer wedding that I photographed for Amanda and Mike. Their ceremony and photos and reception were all done at The RBG in Hamilton, Ontario. Notice the colours and backgrounds. Yes they are a gorgeous couple but the greenery and florals are part of what made this wedding come to life. There are a few portraits that are magic schoolgirls dream of because it is summer. So although we had a hot hot day and the bridal party was roasting, this came together so well. Thank you for an amazing day you two!! :)
